Gainsborough to highlight dementia care bathroom capabilities at Care Show

Gainsborough Specialist Bathrooms, part of the Gainsborough Healthcare Group, will be exhibiting its comprehensive bathroom proposition for dementia care at the 2026 Care Show.

Care Show Birmingham, 7–8 October 2026, NEC, stand J40.

All long-term care providers attending stand J40 will be able to discuss their dementia bathroom requirements on a one-to-one basis with the experienced Gainsborough team at the show. The dementia wet room on display will demonstrate Gainsborough’s gold standard in clinical safety, ergonomics and support. The key design details on show will include:

Specialist showering

Gainsborough will highlight the importance of intuitive controls for both carers and residents. Automatic cut-off timers, for example, add reassurance while thermostatic controls help prevent sudden changes in temperature and eliminate the risk of scalding. Longer shower hoses will demonstrate greater flexibility for the provision of personal care and adjustable shower heads can be configured to suit resident preferences in terms of skin sensitivity.

Intuitive environment

Clear tonal contrast between floors, walls and sanitaryware will illustrate how residents with dementia can distinguish one feature from another. Plain, non-patterned surfaces avoid visual confusion, while consistent flooring throughout a wet room creates a more continuous space. This matters when changes in colour or pattern might be mistaken for a step, hole or barrier.

Considered surfaces

Non-reflective products are another considered choice. By reducing glare and distracting reflections, they can make rooms feel easier to navigate. Low surface temperature radiators bring warmth without an excessively hot exposed surface, supporting comfort and safety before and after a shower.

Design adaptability

Gainsborough is renowned for its prowess in dementia-friendly bathroom pre-enablement, design, installation and after sales servicing. This 360-degree skillset results in a fully flexible approach, so its bathing environments deliver precise, client-centric solutions. They can help create accessible bathrooms and wet rooms that respect dignity, encourage participation where possible and give staff the space and equipment to provide efficient, individualised support. Gainsborough recognises and understands dementia is a complex and varied condition – hence provides adaptable sanitaryware to meet all needs.

Infinite possibilities, one provider

At the Care Show, Gainsborough’s stand will bring together its specialist and proven bathroom design, products, installation and ongoing support for dementia care settings – all in one space. All delegates are encouraged to discover why Gainsborough is the considered, turnkey bathroom solution provider for maximum ROI, enhanced CQC rating and sustainable quality care.
